I am so bored of my hair.
I get bored quite frequently so this is nothing new. I'm so used to being able to style it differently, cut it and color it in weird shades that the past eight months as a brunette has been torture. I'm dying (ha) to get back to a life where I can mess it up again.
While I am planning on cutting my hair short eventually, I want to get my hair into a number of different styles along the way.
I'm inspired by the new trend for curly 80's style hair. This involves wild curls with a short cute curly fringe which I am totally on with.
This obsession started back in November with Vinyl when I saw Juno Temple's hair. I kept complaining to my boyfriend about wanting her hair so badly. As a woman with really naturally straight hair - curls have always been something I've wanted but can't have. My hair is so straight that any attempt to curl it means that they fall out in minutes. The last time I had a perm, I have to have two to get it to stay - that is how straight my insane hair is.
So I'm on a mission to do this to my hair. I'm inspired by how bloody cute it is.
But England is fighting back. I cannot get a quote or a price off a website. Naturally, I went to the salons I have worked with in the past first to get a quote for the perm. I'm all for a flashy website and that but I cannot get a simple price. Which says, this is the starter price and it can go up from there. Simple. However, I'm being bombared by flashy names, product lists and being asked for which stylist I want. Stylist!?!??! I just want a person with a pair of scissors not to scalp me.
No wonder people get defensive and confused. I've only been looking for ten minutes and already I want to shout at the internet. This, I am guessing, is why people get defensive about make up and stores because of the overload of products and names. Its all a bit confusing and overwhelming. I just want a hairdresser to take my hand and tell me it's going to be okay. That they can cut it, color it and perm it.
I only know those words. In my mind, it is still 1985.
